This is a well established program based out of a busy county hospital that is a Level 2 trauma center in the heart of skydiving country. Residents run busy general orthopedic and subspecialty clinics out of the county hospital. Out rotations at Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Kaiser Permanente round out the operative experience with the least exposure to spine, oncology, and foot and ankle. Residents can expect early operative and clinical autonomy and a good fellowship match record.

Located near southern California beaches, desserts, and mountains, and the main thoroughfare to Las Vegas.

This program is based at a Level I trauma center, so expect to get plenty of trauma experience.  This newer residency emphasizes individual growth with early operative exposure with the aim to train alumni who would be confident walking directly into a general practice.  Busy resident run clinic is held several half days a week.  Board scores are important.  Easy access to the beach.

Chiefs will be going to fellowships in spine at OHSU and sports at UAB.

The new kid on the block.  Founded in 2015, this program’s second class will be starting in 2017.

This new program is not taking students for away rotations just yet.  They just matched their 2nd class who will be joining them in July 2017.  Providing a good educational experience for rotating students is important so they are holding off on hosting students until they have a few more residents.

The best program. 🙂

Excellent operative experience that begins early but really culminates in a chief year which is nearly exclusively operative.  Residents get a lot of exposure to bread and butter orthopedics (total joints and arthroscopy) as well as hand surgery due to the affiliated Hand Surgery Fellowship.  Residents also work closely with private practice attendings which gives them a glimpse into the business of medicine.  Grandview is a close knit group of residents with current chiefs heading to Peds at OHSU, Shoulder/Elbow at Cleveland Clinic, and Hand Surgery at Grandview.
